Meet Our Team

Kornelia Nagy-Koppany is the founder and managing partner of KNP LAW. Over the years she represented and advised multinational and international companies in the acquisition of Hungarian enterprises, advised investors on significant international transactions in the pharmaceutical, food, insurance, and telecommunication sectors, and assisted clients to establish and successfully operate Hungarian business ventures. Drawing on her U.S. education and work experience, Kornelia advised the Hungarian government on the preparation of the first free market economy bankruptcy code.

Nagy-Koppany received her J.D. from Eotvos Lorand University Faculty of Law, Masters of International Comparative Law from Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé in France (Strasbourg), and her LL.M. in Corporation Law from New York University School of Law in New York, NY. She recently obtained an International Business Management degree from Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies in Washington, D.C.

During her U.S. law school studies Nagy-Koppany served as a student clerk to the Chief Justice for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and was the recipient of the Judge Galgay Fellowship Award. Following graduation she was associated on both coasts of the U.S. with multinational law firms. She was the managing partner in the Budapest office of the largest Washington, D.C. based international law firm for ten years before she established KNP LAW.

Nagy-Koppany is a member of the Budapest Bar Association and the U.S. District of Columbia Bar Association. Between 2017 and 2020 she was member, Vice-President and President of the Board of Governors of The Washington Foreign Law Society. Under her leadership KNP LAW has been the recipient of the Corporate INTL Pharmaceutical Law Firm of the Year Award since 2015; Global Law Experts Practice Awards Life Sciences Law Firm of the Year Award since 2014; Global Law Expert Pharmaceutical Law Firm of the Year Award in Hungary since 2013, and listed in the Who’s Who Legal Directory Life Sciences (Regulatory and Transactional) Chapter since 2008.

She has authored and contributed to numerous international articles and legal publications that appeared in PMR Pharma Law, Getting the Deal Through, Corporate INTL, Mondaq, and the ABA Year-In-Review annual antitrust manual. In addition to her native Hungarian she primarily works in English.
