THE CORONAVIRUS ACT REMAINS IN FORCE UNTIL JANUARY 1, 2022
On September 29, 2021, the Hungarian Gazette published that the Parliament extended the effectiveness of Act I of 2021 on the protection against the coronavirus pandemic until January 1, 2022.
The proposal was adopted with 112 votes in favor, 25 against and none abstaining. According to the justification of the submission, the primary aim of the Government is to protect the life and health of its citizens, mitigate the impact of economic damage, and preserve workplaces and employment. To achieve these goals, rapid and effective decision-making is needed, which can be only ensured and protected with the extension of the state of emergency.
The Act also states that if the epidemiological situation improves, the state of emergency may be lifted earlier than the currently set expiration date.
