HUNGARIAN GOVERNMENT EXTENDS CRISIS SITUATION BASED ON EXPECTATION OF MASS IMMIGRATION
The amendment to Government Decree No. 41/2016 (III. 9.) related to the declaration of a crisis situation caused by mass immigration expected in the entire territory of Hungary and on the rules related to ordering, maintaining, and terminating the crisis situation was detailed in Government Decree No. 509/2021. (IX. 3.) and published in the Hungarian Gazette on September 3, 2021. The Government extended the crisis situation caused by the anticipated mass immigration for an additional six (6) months, until March 7, 2022. According to the Government, this was necessary based on growing migratory pressure on the Hungarian border and the wave of migration expected based on events in the Middle East, and more specifically Afghanistan. The extension does not impact the scope of the State of Emergency and the special legal order earlier declared by the Hungarian Government due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
